Design for this home began in the fall of 2014 and construction began in late summer of 2015. By January of 2017 the house was ready for occupancy.

Two avid bird watcher and nature lovers fell in love with this wooded lot, situated along the shores of a picturesque New England pond, and commissioned Catalano Architects to design a modern, shingle style home to blend in with its surroundings.

The driving force behind the design for this house was the desire to maximize views of the pond from inside the home. Leaving as much of the site in its original wooded condition was also an important component, since a large variety of birds migrate through the area during the year.

Marvin Integrity windows were installed throughout the home. The large, unobstructed glass sizes available in the Integrity line made these windows an ideal fit for our clients.

The exterior of the home was finished in western red cedar shingles and shiplap siding that has been left to weather naturally. All exterior trim was also done using western red cedar.

We took a natural approach to the interior finishes as well. Clear finished, white oak was used for the kitchen cabinets and paired with soapstone countertops. An earth toned color palette was chosen for interior paint and tile and a striking hickory floor was installed throughout the home.
